3D Exterior Visualization
2021
3D Visualization, 3D Modeling
Role:
3D Artist & Graphic Designer
Project overview
Moving on from interior rendering, I embraced the challenge of exterior 3D rendering. This project involved modelling, texturing, rendering, and compositing intricate exterior scenes using photographs from the physical site. Starting with Auto CAD drawings, I transformed these into visually compelling representations that showcased the future patio area.
Challenges
Visualizing the unbuilt space
Created a realistic representation of the patio space before its physical construction.
Managing complexity
The patio was wide and included thousands of objects such as furniture, plants, flooring, and building exteriors. Required a solution to handle and optimize such a large file.
Custom textures
Needed to develop a wide range of textures efficiently, focusing on creating reusable assets to streamline the process.
Rendering with live objects
Achieving a realistic look for elements like people was particularly challenging and required complicated textures and materials.
Solutions
For the exterior pieces I used a well-structured component instant system that laid out all the repeating sections like windows, flooring and fences, ensuring every detail was accurate. I worked from the architect's CAD drawings and collaborated with the interior designer to align colour choices for the outdoor furniture. The 3D model was then composited with real-world photographs to create a hyper-realistic visualization. This approach allowed me to present a true-to-life preview of the patio space.
Results
The 3D exterior visualizations proved to be a powerful tool for marketing and planning. The realistic renders offered a clear and engaging view of the future patio space, helping stakeholders and potential clients envision the completed project. The combination of 3D models with real photographs received positive feedback for its accuracy and detail, providing citizens with a memorable impression of how the new city skyline would look.
Render showcases another new construction's future scale on the site, providing a realistic view of how it will appear in its current location.
